How Do You Spend?

One easy way to keep an eye on your money is by using a budgeting app on a phone or tablet. It’s like having a digital assistant! If you prefer not to use an app, you can simply write down what you've bought, when you purchased it, and how much it cost in a notebook.
Before you can truly master your money, you must take an honest look at where every cent is going.
Needs vs. Wants: The Great Choice
Needs are the essentials of life. These are things you absolutely cannot live without, such as nutritious food, water, and a safe place to sleep.
Wants are the things you desire but don’t actually need to survive. They might be "extra" versions of things you already have like a third pair of sneakers or simple treats like a new video game.
The best rule to follow is to always take care of your Needs first. Your Wants can wait until after you have reached your big financial goals!
Becoming a Smart Shopper
Think about the last thing you bought, and ask some questions to yourself. Do you remember exactly how much it cost? Was it something you truly needed, or did you buy it on impulse because it looked cool in the moment?
Smart shoppers rarely buy things at first sight. Instead, they compare prices to see if they can get the same item for less at a different store. This is called "finding the best deal." If your spending is stopping you from reaching your big dreams, it’s time to slow down and ensure your money is going toward what matters most.
